Police Chief Lawson announces retirement, Chiaramonte tapped as successor

After dedicating 28 years to the Madera Police Department and establishing an impressive 37-year career in law enforcement, Chief Dino Lawson has made the announcement of his retirement, set to take place on September 22. Chief Lawson’s dedication and exceptional leadership will leave a lasting impact on the Madera Police Department and the entire community. The City extends our heartfelt gratitude to Chief Lawson for his relentless efforts and commitment to ensuring the safety of our community. He has truly embodied the essence of what it means to be #MaderaProud.

With the closing of one chapter comes the dawn of another: We are pleased to announce Giachino (Gino) Chiaramonte will take the reins as our incoming Police Chief, effective September 23. Armed with 22 years of service within the Madera Police Department, Gino’s journey is a testament to his dedication, expertise, and unbreakable bond with our community.
