The Madera Police Department offers a Citizens’ Academy to those that reside or work in the City of Madera. MPD’s Citizens’ Academy is designed to provide a better understanding of the department’s operations as well as the Madera County criminal justice system. Classes will be held at the Madera Police Department, Thursday evenings 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm twice a year for 13 weeks in spring and fall. Class size is limited to 22 persons. Citizens Academy participants are allowed to miss up to two classes and still receive their Certificate of Completion. Any participant who misses more than two classes will be dropped from the program.

- What is the price of admission?
There will be NO CHARGE or FEE to attend the Madera Citizens' Police Academy. The academy is open to any adult (18+) who does not have a felony conviction or pending criminal actions, and who lives or works in Madera. Applicants also must undergo a brief criminal history check.
