Climate Action Plan
The City of Madera’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) outlines strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and promote environmental sustainability throughout the community. Adopted in 2015, the plan supports California’s statewide climate goals while ensuring that Madera continues to grow in a responsible, resilient, and sustainable way.
The CAP serves as a roadmap for reducing the City’s carbon footprint through practical, community-driven measures such as:
- Improving energy efficiency in homes, businesses, and municipal facilities
- Encouraging renewable energy projects like solar installations
- Expanding pedestrian, bicycle, and public transit options
- Promoting water conservation and sustainable landscaping
- Reducing solid waste through recycling and composting programs
These strategies are designed to enhance air quality, lower long-term energy costs, and create a healthier, more livable community for future generations.
