CalHome Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program
The CalHome Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program assists eligible low- and very-low-income homeowners in the City of Madera by providing financial support to repair and improve their primary residences. Through this program, the City partners with the State of California’s California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) to deliver grants and low-interest loans that maintain safe and habitable housing conditions and promote long-term homeownership.
Program Benefits
- Rehabilitation or repair of owner-occupied homes, including upgrades to health, safety, and energy-efficiency systems
- Assistance for accessibility modifications and improvements to support residents with disabilities
- Deferment or forgiveness of repayment under certain income and occupancy conditions, ensuring affordability over time
Eligibility & How to Apply
To qualify, applicants must own and occupy the home as their primary residence, meet income limits set by HCD, and be residents of the City of Madera. Specific criteria, program terms, and available funding for the current cycle are published through HCD’s NOFA (Notice of Funding Availability) and the City’s Grants Department.
Interested homeowners should contact the City’s Grants Department for application details, eligibility checklists, and timelines. Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come or prioritized basis consistent with program regulations.
