Water Quality Report Published

The City of Madera has released its annual water quality report, giving residents an easy way to see what's in their tap water and where it comes from.

The report, called a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), is required every year under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act. It typically covers four areas: where the city's water comes from, how it's treated before reaching homes, what contaminants and minerals the city tests for, and how those results compare against state and federal safety standards.

For Madera, most of that water originates from underground wells. Before it reaches a resident's tap, the city treats it and monitors it against a range of substances, checking the results against limits set by state and federal regulators. Officials say the report is also meant to underscore that protecting those water sources is a shared responsibility across the community, not just a city function.

Residents can read the full report online at www.madera.gov/ccr.

For those who'd rather have a paper copy, or just want to talk through what's in the report with someone at the city, the Water Division can be reached at (559) 661-5466.
