Lowe’s Hometowns initiative supports park improvements in Madera

Several Madera parks and public spaces received upgrades this month thanks to volunteers from Lowe’s Home Improvement, who partnered with the City through the Lowe’s Hometowns initiative. The local Lowe’s team donated materials, equipment, and volunteer labor on October 17 to support maintenance and beautification projects at multiple community sites.
Crews installed new plantings and mulch at the entrance and parking lot of the Pan American Community Center, refreshed playground surfaces at Almond Park and Rancho Santa Fe Park with donated wood chips, and improved trail areas near Nebraska Avenue and Riverside Drive along the Vernon McCullough River Trail.
Parks and Community Services Director Joe Hebert said the work demonstrates the value of collaboration between local partners and City departments.
“Lowe’s commitment to giving back made an immediate difference,” Hebert said. “Their team brought energy, pride, and craftsmanship to each project, helping us maintain safe, attractive, and welcoming parks for residents and families across Madera.”
The volunteer effort is part of Lowe’s Hometowns, a five-year, $100 million commitment to restore and revitalize community spaces nationwide. Earlier this year, Lowe’s announced its goal of delivering 10 million square feet of community impact through projects like this one. Across the country, Lowe’s associates and nonprofit partners are improving public parks, enhancing food pantries, revitalizing community centers, and supporting first responders with restorative spaces.
“At Lowe’s, we believe we have a fundamental responsibility to improve the places we all call home,” said Marvin Ellison, Lowe’s chairman and CEO. “Lowe’s Hometowns is a true demonstration of how Lowe’s red vest associates across the country show up and help. Working alongside nonprofit partners, each project delivers real, life-changing impact to the communities we serve.”
The City thanks Lowe’s and its volunteers for their contributions to local parks and public spaces, and for helping strengthen the community through service and partnership.
