City of Madera secures $2 million for Avenue 13 sewer project

Sewer main repair

The City of Madera has been awarded $2 million in federal funding to support the final phase of sewer rehabilitation along Avenue 13, according to an announcement from U.S. Rep. Adam Gray.

The funding will be used for Phase III of the Avenue 13 sewer-main rehabilitation project, which will address the remaining section of the line running from the intersection of Avenue 13 and Granada Avenue to Highway 99. City officials said the work will improve the reliability and long-term performance of a critical piece of infrastructure.

The funding is part of a broader package of more than $16 million secured by Gray for projects across California’s 13th Congressional District. While the district funding supports 15 projects throughout the San Joaquin Valley, the Avenue 13 sewer project is the only allocation designated for the City of Madera.

Gray said the funding reflects a focus on practical, local improvements that have a direct impact on residents. “These projects have real impact on people’s lives,” Gray said in a statement announcing the funding.

City officials noted that rehabilitating aging sewer infrastructure along Avenue 13 is an important step in maintaining service reliability as Madera continues to grow. Construction timing and next steps for the project are expected to be announced once federal funding agreements are finalized.
