Centennial Pool Complex to Remain Closed for Summer 2026

The Centennial Pool Complex will not open for the 2026 summer season while the City of Madera completes a major underground infrastructure repair.

Following last summer's closure, the City commissioned additional engineering analysis of the facility's plumbing system. That analysis revealed the problem is not isolated to the deep-water diving pool, as initially believed, but stems from a broader failure within the underground return lines — a finding that substantially expands the scope of required repairs.

This project is actively moving forward. Engineering assessment, planning, and site preparation have been underway, and the City is advancing toward the construction phase. Residents will be notified as significant milestones are reached.

"The Centennial Pool Complex is among our most valued community facilities, and we do not take lightly the impact of another season's closure," said Joseph Hebert, Director of Parks & Community Services. "The repairs required here are extensive — a full underground plumbing replacement, not a surface correction. We are committed to completing this work properly and restoring the facility to long-term reliability."

The City will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
