Fire Safety Resources

Operations & Staffing

Public safety is a core priority for the City of Madera. To ensure the highest level of emergency readiness, the City funds 25 sworn positions, including:

  • 24 Suppression Personnel (including the Battalion Chief Position):

  • One Administrative Battalion Chief:

Our frontline apparatus—including both engines and the truck company—are consistently staffed by three-person professional crews. Each crew is led by a Fire Captain and by two Fire Apparatus Engineers, ensuring a highly skilled team is ready to respond to every call.

Meeting the Needs of a Growing City

As Madera expands through residential development and industrial growth, the Fire Department evolves in parallel. We are committed to scaling our resources and infrastructure to maintain optimal response times and service excellence for all citizens, regardless of the complexity of the incident.

Regional Mutual Aid

Emergency response knows no boundaries. For large-scale incidents or complex emergencies requiring additional resources, the Madera City Fire Department operates under a robust mutual aid agreement with the Madera County Fire Department. This partnership ensures that our community has access to a comprehensive network of specialized equipment and personnel when it matters most.
